Meeting at Short Sleeves Coffee

If you'd like to get more connected with other men and with Scripture, but find it hard to make the time, or if you just like early mornings, this group is for you! Led by Mark Semmler, this weekly study will open with a Psalm, explore other passages of the Bible, and end with prayer. We'll be approaching Scripture as one great, true, and beautiful story -- with a substantive beginning, an unfolding storyline, and a powerful ending -- to the end that we might better understand this story and our places in it. If you are interested in membership at VHC or would just like to learn more about the church, Discover Valley Hope is for you! There will be two classes and this is your path to membership. You are not obligated to become a member if you attend the classes but you must attend both classes if you'd like to become a member. Lunch and childcare will be provided but registration is required.

The deacon led Fall Workday will be an opportunity for people of all ages and skill levels to help with the grounds and other chores around Valley Hope. Jobs will include weeding flower beds, cleaning windows, clearing brush and cleaning nursery toys. Children are welcome to help. Please bring your own snack and/or lunch and any tools you may have available (i.e. gloves, shovel, wheel barrow, rakes, hoe). We look forward to this opportunity to live life on mission together with you!

The Practice is a women's gathering to study what it looks like to follow Jesus. This semester we are focusing on applying the truth of God's Word. Consider inviting a friend either from your neighborhood, someone that doesn’t go to Valley Hope or that just hasn’t been able to make it to The Practice before. We need everyone to register. Childcare is provided for PreK - crawlers. Infants will need to stay with mothers. School aged children are welcome to play on the playground.

Valley Hope Youth is partnering with the OWLs (our seniors at VHC) to feed the Owen High School football team dinner before their away game on October 16!

We need high schoolers and OWLS who are willing to com help serve that meal and will stay to help clean up!

Event will take place right after school and will go until about 5:15pm. Once the football team has left, the volunteers (OWL's & HS kids) will share a meal before cleaning up and departing!

We need your help! We hope you'll consider volunteering just one Sunday a month with our Children's Ministry. This is a great opportunity to sit in regular community and set the table for others!

Are you wondering what following Jesus is all about or maybe you belive but are new to life in Christian community. Alpha is a great place to start! Every fall we offer a 7 week course where you can bring your hopes, doubts, questions and fears and gather with others in a similar place in their journey. If you would like to be notified when the next course becomes available or just have questions, use the button below to connect with Amy!

Each month our Elders meet to discuss church direction and pastoral care. If you would like to attend, are in need of prayer or would like to bring forth a topic for discussion, please contact anthony@valleyhope.church.

If you need help making ends meet, there are several assistance programs in the area. You can also connect with our deacons to see what help may be available to your through Valley Hope.  Follow the link to learn more!

There is a time for healing prayer after each service the first Sunday of the month. You can also pray with the Prayer Team, Session or Staff at the end of each service.

Ladies Study at Christ Community

Let's show God's Love in Action.....

We are seeing a need to have a team of people who are willing to be "on call" to support people who are trying to "make it" on their own. The church family is a GREAT place to find caring people who want to follow the call of Jesus to have mercy on our neighbor (Luke 10:25-37), especially the stranger, poor, widow and orphan. This may include making a meal, helping them run errands, driving them to work and taking them home, etc. This is an opportunity to cultivate communities that live out the life-changing hope of Jesus. Please prayerfully consider how you and/or your family may be involved. Email amy@valleyhope.church.

Don't Forget! Stickers are REQUIRED in order to pick up your children from Sunday School and other Children's Ministry events.  This is for everyone's safety.

Supporting at-risk families in crisis through Biblical hospitality in coordination with our local My Village Ministries leadership.

My Village Ministries equips churches like ours to facilitate gospel-centered family preservation.

• To provide family support and stabilization.
• To prevent childhood abuse and neglect.
• To prevent unnecessary foster care placements.
• To prevent, reduce, and repair childhood trauma.
• To provide holistic care.

 We’re looking to build our Valley Hope team so that we can best serve the needs in our area.  Our team will be ministering to families (many of which are single moms) in need of additional support to adequately care for their children (short term and longer term) that are vetted by the My Village Asheville team and assigned to / received by our team based on fit.

• Families in our local community.
• Ladies enrolled in the Hope for Tomorrow program in Black Mountain, part of the Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministry. We’ll be working with the team from Christ Community to serve the families in this program.

What are the roles in the team? Host Family, Community Coach, Community Friend, & Community Care work together to care for families and support each other in a sustainable way.

Who’s a good fit for serving in the roles? Families with a heart for foster care or adoption, empty nesters, families with the gift of hospitality as well as people who want to help families, parents, or kids in need or just be a friend to them. Some of the needs involve taking meals, driving people, and providing a few hours of childcare. We’ll work with potential host families to identify what children they’re a good fit for (age range, gender).

In need of this type of support? When a family is facing a crisis that makes it difficult for them to care for their children, they can call the referral line, Linda Zink at 828-333-9520.
